Don't make your face panic

Too much anti-oily face treatments can make your skin panic and overproduce oil because all the oil it already produces gets washed away...making you have an even more oily face...can you say vicious cycle?

This is mostly for people who have an oily face like I do. I have an oily t-zone, which is the forehead, nose, and chin, tada it makes a T...sort of...or an anchor.

Mysteriously after starting the wash-my-face-every-day routine my skin started to get extra oily super fast. Eventually I decided that my skin was better off with an every two days cleans which kept blemishes at a minimum and also didn't make my face turn into an oil spill.

Then one day I learned about facial cleansers that do not use sulfates and harsh oil-cutting chemicals. It was like a no-duh moment for me because I don't use shampoo for my hair for that reason-it removes the natural oils from hair and makes it dry and ugly. What I wouldn't do to my hair I was doing to my face. Poor face.

Now I look for natural ingredients in face cleansers and I make sure they have no laurel or laureth sulfates or any kind of sulfate, chloride, chloramine, stuff. This means that I can use it every day and my face won't dry up and go into panic overproduction oil mode.

So if you're washing your face every day and finding it more oily than ever, you should probably find a gentler face wash.

Natural facial cleansers are more easily found at Mother's Market or Trader Joes...or the internet.
